Please note that although we require only 48 hours notice to cancel a session, it is not ideal to cancel sessions unless needed for medical or practical emergencies such as sickness or childcare issues, etc.… And we hope that you will consider keeping your appointments as they are always hard to fill if they are canceled close to session time. Since 2005, Jess has worked in diverse social service programs supporting both adults and youth addressing a wide array of challenges. The majority of her past work is related to resisting housing insecurity and working alongside community members to navigate systems related to food security, health care and income/employment. These experiences have gifted Jess with an understanding of the complexity of how problems present themselves and an ability to walk alongside those she works to navigate through the issues they are dealing with.

Jess’s practice is informed by Narrative Therapy, feminism, post-stucturalism and anti-oppressive practice. Jess holds the understanding that people are not problems, that problems are problems. She knows that you are an expert in your own life and thus have the unique skills and knowledge that will sustain you in the collaborative act of therapy. Your own expertise will support you in finding movement towards preferred ways of being. She recognizes that people/relationships/communities are multi-storied. Not one experience or story captures the totality of who that person/relationship/community is. She is excited to explore this with you.

Jess has a Bachelors (BSW) and Masters degree in Social Work (MSW) from the University of Victoria and is a Registered Social Worker (RSW) in British Columbia as well as a member of the BC Association of Social Workers. She has additional counselling training through a feminist-narrative praxis immersion program with the Prochoices Narrative Therapy Community Clinic.
